The Gift Waiting Around the Bend

Today, while out for a walk with my youngest daughter, I experienced one of those unexpected moments that stays with you.

I ran into someone who means a great deal to me, and the instant they saw me, their entire face lit up.

It’s hard to describe what that felt like.

We spend so much time rushing toward the next thing that we forget life often meets us in the middle of an ordinary day. A walk becomes a reunion. A familiar smile becomes a reminder that people matter. Sometimes the greatest gift isn’t accomplishing something—it’s discovering that someone is genuinely happy to see you.

We made plans to visit next week, and I walked away with a heart that felt a little lighter.

Today reminded me that we never really know what waits for us beyond the next bend in the path. Sometimes it’s just another stretch of road.

And sometimes, it’s someone whose smile reminds you that you hold a special place in their heart… and for a moment, the whole world feels a little brighter.
